Job Title: Testing Engineer

Position Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for coordinating laboratory testing activities for commercial and residential HVAC units. The position will provide support for product development engineering staff as well as instruction and guidance for test technicians.
 
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Develop laboratory test plans and schedules.
  • Process and summarize test data for reports.
  • Prepare effective presentations of test reports for internal and external customers.
  • Maintain test equipment calibrations and maintenance records; schedule routine maintenance activities with outside vendors.
  • Research and implement test standards for specific equipment.
  • Prepare and plan product certification testing for AHRI, EPA, and DOE yearly requirements.
  • Coordinate special testing including: seismic testing and certification for earthquake zone application; wind certification for hurricane prone areas; sound testing of indoor and outdoor units according to specification and code requirements; component electrical and mechanical testing.
  • Conduct field tests and field evaluations of HVAC systems, including site selection, equipment selection and data analysis.

    The non-essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Physically assist with laboratory test setups including unit placement, sensor installations, and electrical connections.
  • Coordinate storage and inventory of test samples.
  • Consult with Product Marketing, Sales, and Zone Engineers to provide guidance for product application discussions.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned.
  •  
    Experience/Training:
  • B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years engineering experience in HVAC or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years experience in a testing or laboratory environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Team oriented, self-motivated and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Availability and willingness to work additional hours if projects require.
  • Prepared to travel 15% of the time.
